Union Biometrica, Inc. to exhibit at the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) 14th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA

The BioSorter flow cytometer is designed to provide the flexibility for working with samples ranging in sizes from 10 to 1500 microns.  These samples can be analyzed and dispensed intact owing to the low sample pressures, low shear forces and the gentle sorting mechanism. Union Biometrica has developed an autosampler, LP Sampler, which automatically loads samples from multiwell plates to the BioSorter for analysis and resorting.

We invite you to learn more about our technologies by joining us for the following Innovation Showcase:

Title: Automation for Analysis and Handling of Cells and Cell Clusters in Stem Cell Research
Topic: Cells growing in clusters communicate with each other and behave differently than cells grown as monolayers or in suspension. These interactions are likely to be important for proper function. Union Biometrica Large Particle Flow Cytometers automate the analysis, sorting and dispensing of objects too big or too fragile for traditional cytometers including those studied by stem cell researchers such as embryoid bodies, neurospheres and other spheroids and organoids. This technology provides automation for the analysis and handling of these sample types in multiwell plate format and increases reproducibility by removing some of the day-to-day variability that can be introduced between researchers and by the same researcher from one day to the next.
Presenter: Rock Pulak, Ph.D.
Details: Thursday, June 23rd from 8:00-8:30am, Moscone West, Room 2002

About Union Biometrica, Inc.
Large Particle Flow Cytometry for Gentle Sorting -- Union Biometrica offers tools for high throughput research of stem cells and cell clusters (iPS cells and embryoid bodies as well as other types of large cells / cell clusters), bead based assays, plus model organisms (early stages of zebrafish, C.elegans, Drosophila embryos and larvae, sea urchin embryos, Xenopus eggs and embryos, Daphnia, various marine larvae and zooplankton). We provide Large Particle Flow Cytometers (COPAS™ and BioSorter) for objects that are too large / too fragile for traditional cytometers and offer an alternative to manual sorting. These systems analyze and sort objects based on size and fluorescent parameters. Automating this process offers increased speed, sensitivity, quantification, and repeatability of experiments.

For examples of Stem Cell and Cell Cluster screens - including hiPS and embryoid bodies as well as other types of large cells / cell clusters including adipocytes, neurospheres, duct cells and pancreatic islets – please see:http://http://www.unionbio.com/publications/publication.aspx?id=39
Peer reviewed journal papers referencing the sorting of encapsulated objects using our COPAS and BioSorter instruments can be viewed at: http://www.unionbio.com/publications/publication.aspx?id=38
Application notes referencing the sorting of stem cells and cell clusters using our instruments can be viewed at: http://www.unionbio.com/applications/notes.aspx?id=13
