"Sorted Events" in Model Organisms

June 2002 Newsletter, Issue 503

Multi-parametric & Dual Color Fluorescent Analysis and Flow Sorting of C. elegans

This Sorted Events Newsletter is to inform you about a poster (shown left) that was presented at the European Worm Meeting held May 18 - 21 (Naples, Italy). Two mixed C. elegans populations of wild type and strains expressing fluorescent reporters were analyzed and sorted using an automated, high-speed flow sorter.

The next level in this type of analysis and sorting will be presented at the upcoming East Coast Worm Meeting held June 14 - 16 (Durham, NH) in a poster titled "Check out my Profile! Isolation of mutants with altered str-1 expression levels using automated, high-sensitivity fluorescence profiling". This poster is the first published experiment performed using the new Profiler™, which uses positional fluorescence information along the length of the C. elegans to further enhance sorting sensitivity. Without the Profiler technology, some observations would not have been possible. Read more
