About Union Biometrica, Inc. Union Biometrica is the pioneer in the development, manufacture, and distribution of high throughput equipment for large objects such as beads used in combinatorial chemistry libraries, seeds, and small model organisms including C.elegans, Drosophila, and D. rerio. Our proprietary COPAS systems and customized services are helping to accelerate research in application areas such as genetic and compound screening, functional genomics, target identification / validation, and in vivo toxicology HTS. |
|
| In genomics research and drug
discovery programs, an increasing number of researchers are working with small
model organisms such as nematodes and Drosophila or zebrafish as their physical
attributes can provide significant information about the human gene function.
Until now, sorting for this type of research was performed by manual
microscopy. COPAS instruments automate this process, sorting small model organisms,
seeds, and beads using object size, optical density, and
intensity of fluorescent markers as sorting criteria. The specially designed gentle pneumatic sorting mechanism located after the flow cell does not harm or change objects, making the instrument suitable for live biological materials or sensitive chemistries. COPAS instruments allow for multiple fluorescence excitation and emission wavelengths with senstivity for GFP, YFP, DsRed, as well as other commercially available fluorophores. Ultra-sensitive microscopic readers (MIAS-2) and imaging applications (eaZYX software) for High Information Content Screening assays using cellular, tissue and small animal model assays are also available. |

| Live demonstrations of this instrument will be available at the GLIIFCA meeting held October 4-6, 2002. ~Not attending the meeting? Simply email us at sales@unionbio.com, call 617.591.1211, or visit us on the web at http://www.unionbio.com for more information. |
