Optics Layout and Laser Configuration Overview

Schematic outline of a typical COPAS laser configuration:
  • 670 nm red diode laser to measure axial length (TOF) and optical density (EXT) of objects, and can also be used to excite fluorescence in the red spectrum.
  • Multi-line argon laser (488/514 nm) for fluorescence excitation (FLU).
  • Instruments have an extinction detector and three PMT fluorescence detectors which can be used to detect fluorescence emissions in the green, yellow, and red regions of the spectrum.
Various excitation lasers and detection optics to cover a variety of fluorescence excitation and emission requirements are also available, including:
  • 635 nm Diode Laser in place of the 670 nm laser
  • Argon-Krypton Laser in place of the 488/514 multi-line laser
  • UV 325 nm Helium-Cadmium Laser in addition to standard lasers
  • UV 375 nm Diode Laser in addition to standard lasers
  • A range of Fluorescence Detector Filters
