Union Biometrica, Inc. to exhibit at the PhenoDays: Imaging and Robotics for the 21st Century Science Fall Symposium

September 23, 2013

Sorting of fragile plant protoplasts has long been a challenge due to the absence of cell wall. We developed a method for high-throughput analysis and sorting of intact protoplasts for downstream applications including imaging and physiological assays. We have also successfully used our instruments to sort intact plant protoplasts and encapsulated protoplasts. Join us at the meeting to discuss some new applications of the BioSorter, including the use of plant cell clusters (calli), pollen, Arabidopsis thaliana seeds, and Physcomitrella patens. These samples can be analyzed and dispensed intact owing to the low sample pressures, low shear forces and the gentle sorting mechanism of this flow cytometer instrumentation. Union Biometrica has developed an autosampler, LP Sampler, that automatically loads samples from multiwell plates to the BioSorter for analysis and resorting.

About Union Biometrica, Inc.
Large Particle Flow Cytometry for Gentle Sorting --We provide Large Particle Flow Cytometers (COPAS™ and BioSorter®) for objects that are too large / too fragile for traditional cytometers and offer an alternative to manual sorting. This includes many of the small model organisms traditionally used in phenotypic screens. These systems analyze and sort objects based on size and fluorescent parameters. Automating this process offers increased speed, sensitivity, quantification, and repeatability of experiments.
Peer reviewed journal papers and application notes referencing our COPAS and BioSorter instruments can be viewed via the links below.
