Union Biometrica, Inc. to exhibit at the PhenoDays: Imaging and Robotics for the 21st Century Science Fall Symposium

Sorting of fragile plant protoplasts has long been a challenge due to the absence of cell wall. We developed a method for high-throughput analysis and sorting of intact protoplasts for downstream applications including imaging and physiological assays. We have also successfully used our instruments to sort intact plant protoplasts and encapsulated protoplasts. Join us at the meeting to discuss some new applications of the BioSorter, including the use of plant cell clusters (calli), pollen, Arabidopsis thaliana seeds, and Physcomitrella patens. These samples can be analyzed and dispensed intact owing to the low sample pressures, low shear forces and the gentle sorting mechanism of this flow cytometer instrumentation. Union Biometrica has developed an autosampler, LP Sampler, that automatically loads samples from multiwell plates to the BioSorter for analysis and resorting.
