Union Biometrica, Inc. to exhibit at the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) 11th Annual Meeting in Boston, MA

June 4, 2013

Join us for the following seminar and poster:

Seminar Title: Large particle flow cytometry provides high throughput analysis and automation for cell clusters (EBs, spheroids) and encapsulated 3D cell cultures.

Seminar Topic: Some cell types will naturally form cell clusters when grown in culture. This is true for embryonic stem cells (embryoid bodies), neural stem cells (neurospheres), certain solid tumors (tumorspheres) and others. This characteristic reflects programs of development that require cell-cell interactions and cell-substrate contacts. Union Biometrica discusses the use of their Large Particle Flow Cytometers for automating the multiparametric analysis and gentle intact dispensing of these types of cell clusters to wells of multi-well plates.
Seminar Details: Thursday June 13, 2013; 12:30pm - 1pm; Room 254A

Poster: AUTOMATED ANALYSIS AND SORTING OF HUMAN iPS CELL CLUSTERS BY LARGE PARTICLE FLOW CYTOMETRY

Poster Details: Poster Presentation I, Wednesday June 12 2013; 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM; Poster Board Number W-2031

About Union Biometrica, Inc.
Union Biometrica designs and markets tools for high throughput model organism research. We provide Large Particle Flow Cytometers (COPAS™ and BioSorter®) for objects that are too large / too fragile for traditional cytometers and offer an alternative to manual sorting. These systems sort and dispense objects based on size and fluorescent parameters. Automating this process offers increased speed, sensitivity, quantification, and repeatability of experiments. In addition to our COPAS and BioSorter products, we will be offering the VAST BioImager in mid 2013 for automated imaging of 2-7 dpf sedated zebrafish larvae.
For examples of Stem Cell and Cell Cluster screens - including hiPS and embryoid bodies as well as other types of large cells / cell clusters including adipocytes, neurospheres, duct cells and pancreatic islets – please see: http://www.unionbio.com/publications/publication.aspx?id=39
Peer reviewed journal papers referencing the sorting of encapsulated objects using our COPAS and BioSorter instruments can be viewed at: http://www.unionbio.com/publications/publication.aspx?id=38
Application notes referencing the sorting of stem cells and cell clusters using our instruments can be viewed at:http://www.unionbio.com/applications/notes.aspx?id=13
